Mckenna Project

Client Review

Grubs, drought, chinch bugs and too much shade did our Saint Augustine lawn in more than once now. I re-sodded it myself at least once and as a result the grade was also off - there was a bit of a hump in the middle which prevented proper drainage. Overall, our soil was in bad shape. J Ponce and Son was recommended by a church friend and we had them out to give us a bid. They bid out a couple of options for us and worked with our budget. The project involved improving the soil by re-grading, hauling some away, and enriching it with compost. They also improved the beds, removed an unhealthy Red Tip and a Japanese Yew that refused to grow and replaced them with a new Mediterranean Palm and a new, larger Japanese Yew, and added mulch. They re-sodded with the Palmetto variety of Saint Augustine which they said is much more shade tolerant than what we previously had and they installed a "temporary" irrigation system to ensure that the new grass will be sufficiently watered especially in the first few weeks. Like many of their customers, we plan to keep the temporary irrigation system in place as it does a really great job of deeply soaking the whole area. They did all of this work in about 2.5 days and they made sure to get us scheduled to do it at the right time of year... just after the heat of the summer and before the first freeze. Can't say enough good things about the work they did for us (see attached photos) and both Javier and Jai are great to work with.
